DCINY PRESENTS THE THIRD ANNUAL ‘TOTAL VOCAL’ AT CARNEGIE HALL ON APRIL 9, 2017 WITH A CAPPELLA PIONEER DEKE SHARON
Heralded as "The Father of Contemporary A Cappella," (Entertainment Weekly), Deke Sharon teams up with over 15 performing ensembles to showcase a cappella arrangements from the popular movies Pitch Perfect & Pitch Perfect 2, Broadway’s In Transit and TV shows The Sing-Off and Pitch Slapped.
Thursday, March 16, 2017 — On April 9, 2017, Distinguished Concerts International New York (DCINY) presents Total Vocal on April 9, 2017 at 2PM at Carnegie Hall’s Stern Auditorium/Perelman Stage, the third annual celebration of contemporary a cappella music featuring arrangements from Pitch Perfect, The Sing-Off, and the American pop lexicon. The performance includes special soloists Barden Bella, Kelley Jakle, beatboxer Chesney Snow, American Idol’s Justin Guarini, cast members from Broadway’s In Transit and NBC’s The Sing Off, as well as a cappella groups from all over the country. The concert will be conducted and hosted by Deke Sharon, a superstar of the contemporary a cappella genre.
The performance will include music from Kelly Clarkson, The Beatles, Ed Sheeran, Bruno Mars, Billy Joel, Queen and more. The first two Total Vocal concerts were sold out and featured original cast members from the Pitch Perfect movies (Kelley Jakle, Shelly Regner, Chrissie Fit) and soloists like Sean Altman (Rockapella), Chesney Snow (Broadway's In Transit, American Beatboxer) and The Filharmonic (The Sing Off).

About Deke Sharon
Heralded as "The Father of Contemporary A Cappella," (Entertainment Weekly), Deke Sharon is responsible for the current sound of modern a cappella, having created the dense vocal-instrumental sound in college, subsequently spreading it around the world. Deke produces The Sing-Off worldwide (USA, Netherlands, China, South Africa) and served as arranger, on-site music director and vocal producer for Universal's Pitch Perfect & Pitch Perfect 2 starring Anna Kendrick & Rebel Wilson. Deke founded the Contemporary A Cappella Society while in college, and is responsible for many seminal a cappella programs. He is also contemporary cappella's most prolific arranger, having arranged over 2,000 songs, with many of them in print worldwide with Hal Leonard/Contemporary A Cappella Publishing.
He is one of only 20 honorary members of the Barbershop Harmony Society since 1938, as well as an honorary member of BYU Vocal Point, and received CASA's lifetime achievement award in 2016.
