Twin sister piano duo Christina and Michelle Naughton play The Crypt Sessions on August 25th
The pair will perform Messiaen's transcendent 'Visions of the Amen' for two pianos

"[The Naughtons] have to be heard to be believed....I’m ready to put them on a level with some of the greatest piano duos of our time" - The Washington Post The Crypt Sessions continues on August 25, as the extraordinary twin sister piano duo Christina and Michelle Naughton perform Messiaen's staggeringly epic, hauntingly transcendent and utterly singular Visions of the Amen [listen to their acclaimed Warner Classics recording here]. The piece was written for two pianos in 1943 after Messiaen had been released from a Concentration Camp and returned to Paris, only to find his wife dying in a hospital. In the face of such dark circumstances, Messiaen turned to his devout Catholic faith, writing a piece which reconciles the suffering that surrounded him with the ecstatic, explosive, cosmic visions that were swirling in his head, painting with an awe-inspiring palette of sounds, emotions and ideas. It's a work as profoundly mystical as it is deeply human, and we couldn't imagine a more perfect pair to play it, or a more powerful setting to hear it. We hope you'll join us.
